Adidas, a German sports apparel manufacturer, is the largest producer of sportswear in Europe. This company is the parent company of Adidas Group, which produces Reebok sportswear. Adolf Dassler, nicknamed ‘Adi,’ founded this company in 1948. The brand name, Adidas, is taken from the founder’s nickname, Adi. In 2009, Adidas managed to pull in 10.38 billion Euro in company revenue.
At first, Adolf and his brother Rudolf produced and sold shoes after Adolf’s return from World War I. The shoes were produced in their mother’s wash kitchen. The prosperous company was originally called Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Yet, after some disagreements, Adolf’s own brother created his own sportswear company, Puma (originally Ruda), while Adolf changed the company name to Adidas AG.
Eventually, after the death of Horst Dassler, the company was bought by Bernard Tapie in 1989. Yet, he gave away the power he held over the company because he couldn’t handle the debt. After three years, Adidas was later sold to Robert Louis-Dreyfus.
The brand logo consists of three parallel bars called “Three Stripes.” This logo has not always belonged to them, however. In 1951, Adidas purchased the logo from Karhu Sports, a Finnish company.
Since the late 1940s, Adidas has grown to become the second largest manufacturer of sports footwear, and other products, such as shirts, bags, and anything sports and clothing-related.
This sportswear producer’s biggest rival is the ever popular American company, Nike, which is the largest sports apparel manufacturer in the world.
Adidas has created, produced, and successfully sold footwear for just about every sport. They have footwear for tennis, golf, basketball, cricket, and football (soccer). One popular type of footwear that has proven successful is the Adidas Running Shoes.
There are multiple types of running shoes manufactured by Adidas, all well-liked choices for runners. Some running shoes created by Adidas that are known for their excellent performance are adiStar Control 5, Supernova Sequence, Supernova Cushion 7. Pricy shoes produced by Adidas tend to be produced out of the high quality kangaroo leather, which makes these Adidas Running Shoes much more sturdy.
This company produces shoes for both men, woman, and children. Not only are the running shoes of the utmost quality, but they’re trendy, too. Running shoes come in a variety of colors, the popular ones being black, red, and blue. Adidas has running shoes in eight colors, including bright colors such as red, yellow, blue, and pink, and more neutral colors such as white, gray, and black.
Today, Adidas is sold by a variety of merchants such as Amazon, Ebay, and Zappos. Adidas’ products continue gaining popularity due to their durability, tendency to set trends, and superb reputation.
Despite its previous debts and bumpy roads, Three Stripes is still going strong against its competitor, the very popular Swoosh. Nike better watch out, because Adidas obviously has a very bright ahead in the sportswear world.
